Same technology, two names
VRF means variable refrigerant flow. One outdoor unit sends refrigerant to many indoor units, and every room or zone is controlled on its own. With heat recovery, a branch box routes refrigerant so one room can heat while another cools.
VRV means variable refrigerant volume. It's Daikin's name for its version of the same system. Toshiba Carrier, Mitsubishi and other brands call theirs VRF.
